About Us

Hi there, we’re Cara Beth and Gabe Roraback! Welcome to Roraback Around, our travel blog where we hope to document our adventures and share stories about the places we visit.

How We Met

Our story starts sophomore year of high school where we met and quickly became close friends. Somewhere along the line we became chemistry lab partners— Cara Beth carefully documenting experiments and recording notes while Gabe was busy mixing acids and trying to blow stuff up. Not much has changed since then, except for the fact that eight years later we finally realized that dating your best friend could be a really good idea!

Now we have been married for three years and are cherishing every day together. We’re both originally from East Texas, and although we love the area and our families and friends that live there, we always have felt like we needed time to see the world before “settling down.” Currently still in our 20s with no kids or a mortgage, we thought that if we ever wanted to travel for an extended period then the time is now!

Our Travel Styles

When it comes to personalities, there’s a reason why they say opposites attract! Our travel style (and our relationship) is a good mix of structure and spontaneity.

Cara Beth is the master planner. As an Enneagram Type One she loves budgets, itineraries, calendars, and knowing what’s next on the agenda. She studied abroad in London in the spring of 2020, but got sent home early thanks to a little global pandemic. Travel has been a passion of hers ever since!

Gabe on the other hand is definitely more go with the flow. He is a former Colorado backpacking guide and his favorite movie is The Secret Life of Walter Mitty. An Enneagram Type Seven, he’s always ready for the next adventure, especially if it wasn’t on the schedule!

Life Lately

So far we’ve had some pretty amazing adventures together, like parasailing in Mexico, a trip to London, and of course lots of sightseeing in the United States! Each trip has left us wanting to see more of the world, but also made us realize that we didn’t want to rush through it.

So now we’re on our biggest adventure yet, slowly traveling around Europe one month at a time. Instead of racing from country to country, we decided to stay a little longer, settle in, and really get to know the places we’re visiting.

Here on Roraback Around we hope to share glimpses of daily life abroad, travel stories, and memories to look back on when we (eventually) come back home to Texas. Thanks for reading, we’re excited to have you along for the ride!
